Repair Procedures of Side Airbag (SAB) Module

Removal

The side airbag is not removable from the front seatback assembly, so replace the front seatback assembly when replacing the side airbag.

   Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

   Remove the front seat assembly. (Refer to Body - "Front Seat Assembly")

   Remove the front seatback rear cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Seatback Cover")

   Loosen the side airbag mounting nuts, then remove the side airbag (A).

   

Installation

Make sure to install the harness wires so they are not pinched and do not interfere with other parts.

Do not open the side airbag cover. Make sure the airbag assembly cover is installed correctly. Incorrect installation may prevent proper deployment.

   Remove the ignition key from the vehicle.

   Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least three minutes.

   Install the front seatback rear cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Seatback Cover")

   Install the front seat assembly. (Refer to Body - "Front Seat Assembly")

   Return and fully slide the front seat forward, and make sure the harness wires are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

   Connect the negative battery cable.

   After installing the side airbag (SAB), check that the system operates correctly:

   A.	Turn the ignition ON; the SRS indicator should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn off.
