On a vehicle equipped with a smart key, the trunk can be opened using the Smart Trunk Opening System.

How to Use the Smart Trunk Release

The trunk can be opened by the no-touch activation when all of the conditions below are met.

  • 15 seconds after all doors are closed and locked
  • Located within the detection area for more than 3 seconds

Information

Smart Trunk release does not operate when:

  • The smart key is detected within 15 seconds after the doors are closed and locked and is continuously detected.
  • The smart key is detected within 15 seconds after the doors are closed and locked, and within 1.5 m of the front door handle. (For vehicles with Welcome light)
  • The door is not locked and closed.
  • The smart key is inside the vehicle.

1. Setting

To activate Smart Trunk release, go to User Settings Mode and select Smart Trunk on the LCD display.

2. Detection and Warning

If you are within the detection area (20 ~ 40 inches behind the vehicle) with the Smart Key, the hazard warning lights will flash and the horn will sound to warn you that the Smart Key has been detected and the trunk will open.

Information

Do not approach the detection area if you do not want the trunk to open. If you have unintentionally entered the detection area and the warning lights and horn start operating, leave the detection area with the Smart Key. The trunk will remain closed.

3. Automatic Opening

The warning lights will flash and the horn will sound 6 times, and then the trunk will open.

WARNING

  • Make sure to close the trunk before driving your vehicle.
  • Make sure there are no people or objects around the trunk before opening or closing the trunk.
  • Make sure that items in the trunk do not fall out when opening the trunk on a slope. This may result in serious injury.
  • Do not forget to deactivate the Smart Trunk when washing the vehicle. Otherwise, the trunk may open unintentionally.
  • Keep the key out of the reach of children. Children may unintentionally activate the Smart Trunk release while playing near the rear area of the vehicle.
