Ambient Temperature Sensor Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The ambient temperature sensor is located inside the outside rearview mirror and detects the outside air temperature. It is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor; resistance increases as temperature decreases and decreases as temperature increases. The sensor output is used for discharge air temperature control, temperature-adjusted door control, blower motor level control, air mix mode control and in-car humidity control.
If the ambient temperature is below 1 °C, the air conditioner compressor will stop operating. The compressor will operate manually.
