Your vehicle is equipped with an Emergency Trunk Release lever located inside the trunk. If someone is accidentally locked in the trunk, the trunk can be opened by moving the lever in the direction of the arrow and opening the trunk.

WARNING

  • You and your passengers should know the location of the emergency trunk release lever in this vehicle and how to open the trunk in case you are accidentally locked in the trunk.
  • NEVER allow anyone to ride in the trunk of the vehicle at any time. If the trunk is partially or fully closed and a person cannot get out, serious injury or death may result from lack of ventilation, exhaust gases and rapid heat buildup, or from exposure to cold weather conditions. The trunk is also a very dangerous place in a collision because it is not a protected occupant space but is part of the vehicle crush zone.
  • Your vehicle should be kept locked and the smart key should be kept out of the reach of children. Parents should tell their children about the danger of playing in the trunk.
  • Use the release lever for emergency situations only.
