Troubleshooting

Diagnosis and Testing - Power Liftgate System. The power liftgate system is a complex system consisting of many components. To perform accurate testing or to obtain outputs of the power liftgate control module, it must be checked. The most reliable, efficient and accurate means of diagnosing the power liftgate system requires the use of a scan tool and the proper body diagnostic procedures manual. The scan tool can be used to monitor the current switch status recorded in the power liftgate control module to help the technician diagnose a malfunctioning switch. Before performing any power liftgate system check, the battery must be fully charged and the module must recognize all system limiting conditions (refer to the Power Liftgate System Description for a list). The diagnostic table below is provided for quick reference when diagnosing and checking the power liftgate system.
