Removal
  1. Wear gloves before removing/installing the drive unit.
  2. Do not install or handle the pusher, controller, and wiring harnesses with bare hands.
  3. Be careful when removing the pusher, as the liftgate may close.
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the left liftgate trim after opening the liftgate. (Refer to Body – "Liftgate Trim")
  3. Disconnect the power liftgate pusher pin (A), then remove the power liftgate connecting rod (B).
  4. Remove the power liftgate module and drive unit (A) after disconnecting the connector, bolts, and nuts.
  5. Remove the power tailgate module (A) after loosening the mounting screws.

Installation

  1. Tighten the liftgate module and drive unit mounting bolts and nuts.

    Tightening torque: 6.9 ~ 10.8 N·m

  2. Install the pusher into the ball joint of the hinge.
  3. Connect the control unit connectors.
  4. Install the right liftgate trim.
  5. After connecting the negative (-) battery terminal, verify that the power liftgate operates normally.
    1. Make sure the connectors are connected correctly.
    2. Verify that the power liftgate operates normally.
    1. If the drive unit mounting bolt is lost and remains inside the housing, a rattling noise from the bolt may cause customer complaints.
    2. Do not work on the power tailgate module with power connected while the pusher is removed.
    3. When replacing the power tailgate module and drive unit, always perform the parameter saving procedure.
    4. Reset the power tailgate module whenever work is performed with the battery disconnected.
    5. Always verify normal operation after replacing a part related to the power liftgate module. If abnormal operation is found, check the DTCs and the wiring and cable connections.

Inspection

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the left liftgate trim. (Refer to Body – "Liftgate Trim")
  3. Disconnect the motor connector.
  4. Connect the motor terminals directly to battery voltage (12 V) and verify that the motor operates smoothly. Then reverse the polarity and verify that the motor operates smoothly in the reverse direction. If operation is abnormal, replace the motor.
