Side airbags (if equipped)
The vehicle is equipped with side airbags for each seat. Their purpose is to provide the driver and/or front passenger with additional protection beyond that offered by seat belts alone.
Side airbags are designed to deploy only in certain types of collision, depending on severity, angle, speed and point of impact.
Side airbags are not designed to deploy in every side-impact situation.
WARNING To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from side airbag deployment, observe the following precautions: - Always wear seat belts to help keep occupants properly seated. - For seats equipped with side and/or curtain airbags, do not allow occupants to rest their head or any part of their body against the doors, place their arms on the doors or extend them out of the windows, or place objects between the doors and seats. - Keep the steering wheel at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions to minimize the risk of hand and arm injuries. - Never use seat covers. This may reduce or prevent the effectiveness of the system. - Do not place any object on the airbag or between the airbag and yourself. - Do not place any object between the door and the seat. These objects could become dangerous projectiles and injure occupants if the side airbag deploys. - Do not install accessories on or near the side airbag. - Do not strike the doors when the ignition switch is in the ON position, as this may cause the side airbags to deploy. - If the seat or seat cover is damaged, it is recommended that the system be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Side curtain airbag modules (if equipped)
The side curtain airbags are located on both sides of the roof rails, above the front and rear doors.
They are designed to protect the heads of front seat occupants and outboard rear seat occupants in certain types of side collisions.
The side curtain airbags are designed to deploy only in certain side collisions, depending on the severity, angle, speed and point of impact.
Side curtain airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.
WARNING To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from curtain airbag deployment, observe the following precautions: - All occupants must always wear seat belts to help keep them properly seated. - Make sure to install the child restraint system as far away from the door as possible. - For seats equipped with side and/or curtain airbags, do not allow occupants to rest their head or any part of their body against the doors, place their arms on the doors or extend them out of the windows, or place objects between the doors and seats. - Do not open or repair the curtain side airbags.
