Tire Replacement with TPMS
If a tire goes flat, the low tire pressure warning light and indicator will illuminate. We recommend having the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
NEVER use tire sealant to repair a puncture and/or inflate a low tire. Tire sealant may damage the tire pressure sensor. If used, you will need to replace the tire pressure sensor.
Each wheel is equipped with a tire pressure sensor installed inside the tire behind the valve stem. You must use TPMS-specific wheels. It is recommended that your tires be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
If you drive the vehicle for about 10 minutes at a speed above 25 km/h after replacing the low-pressure tire with the spare tire, the following will occur:
- The TPMS malfunction indicator may flash for approximately 1 minute and then remain illuminated continuously because the TPMS sensor is not installed on the spare tire.
You cannot identify a low-pressure tire simply by looking at it. Always use a quality tire pressure gauge to measure tire pressure. Note that a tire that is hot (from driving) will have a higher pressure reading than a tire that is cold (after the vehicle has been parked for at least 3 hours and driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile) during that 3-hour period).
Allow the tires to cool before measuring tire pressure. Always make sure the tires are cold before inflating them to the recommended pressure.
A cold tire means the vehicle has been parked for 3 hours and driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile) during that 3-hour period.
WARNING
- The TPMS cannot warn you of severe and sudden tire damage caused by external factors such as nails or road debris.
- If you feel the vehicle becoming unstable, immediately release the accelerator pedal, apply the brake pedal gradually and with light force, and slowly move to a safe place off the road.
WARNING
Interference, modification, or disabling of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may interfere with the system's ability to warn the driver of low tire pressure conditions and/or TPMS malfunctions. Tampering, modifying, or disabling TPMS components may void the warranty on this part of the vehicle.
WARNING
FOR EUROPE
- Do not modify the vehicle; this may interfere with the operation of the TPMS.
- Aftermarket wheels do not have a TPMS sensor. For your safety, we recommend using replacement parts from an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If you use aftermarket wheels, use a TPMS sensor approved by HYUNDAI. If your vehicle is not equipped with a TPMS sensor or the TPMS does not operate properly, you may not pass the periodic vehicle inspection in your country.
❈All vehicles sold in the EUROPEAN market during the periods indicated below must be equipped with TPMS.
- New vehicle model: from November 1, 2012~
- Current vehicle model: from November 1, 2014~ (based on vehicle registration)
