Description and Operation
Description
The Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) is installed on the right side of the fuel tank. It controls the DC motor installed inside the low-pressure fuel pump. The module compares the instantaneous fuel pressure information measured by the Fuel Pressure Sensor (FPS) with the target fuel pressure information provided by the ECM, and creates the desired target fuel pressure by controlling the fuel pump motor and regulating the fuel flow in the low-pressure fuel line between the low-pressure and high-pressure fuel pumps.
Operation

- The ECM transmits target fuel pressure information to the FPCM via the CAN network.
- The FPS provides the FPCM with actual fuel pressure information of the low-pressure fuel line between the low-pressure and high-pressure fuel pumps, and the FPCM transmits this information to the ECM. In addition, the FPCM diagnoses malfunctions in the FPCM, fuel pump motor, and FPS, and then provides diagnostic information to the ECM.
- The FPCM compares the actual fuel pressure information measured by the FPS with the target fuel pressure information provided by the ECM, and controls the voltage supplied to the low-pressure fuel pump motor. The FPCM continues to regulate the fuel flow by controlling the fuel pump pressure according to engine speed (rpm) and vehicle load.

Repair Procedures
Removal
- Release the residual fuel pressure in the fuel line. (Refer to Fuel System - "Release Residual Fuel Pressure in Line")
- Remove the floor carpet service cover (A).

- Remove the fuel pump service cover (A) after loosening the mounting screws.

- Disconnect the connector (A) of the fuel pump control module and the connector (B) of the fuel pressure sensor.
- Disconnect the quick-connector of the fuel feed tube (C).

- Remove the snap ring (A) using the Special Service Tool [No.: 09310-B8100].

- When removing the plate cover, be careful not to damage the fuel tank and fuel pump.
- When removing the plate cover, press down on the top part with your hand and turn the key counterclockwise.

- Remove the fuel pump from the fuel tank.

Installation
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
