Service Point Target Automatic Calibration (SPTAC)

When calibration is required:
  • Front View Camera Removal and Installation
  • Replacement of Front View Camera
  • Windshield Replaced
  • Front view camera bracket on windshield is deformed.
Service Point Target Automatic Calibration (SPTAC). The front view camera SPTAC provides the technician with a means to calibrate the camera by aligning the calibration target (SST: 09890-3V100) with the vehicle on level ground. If the calibration is not completed within the specified tolerance, the front view camera displays the DTC "System Out of Calibration".
  1. Calibration Target Correct Alignment Method. To successfully complete the front view camera calibration, install the calibration target as follows:
    • Install the target (SST: 09890-3V100) perpendicular to the ground and at the camera-related lower corner tolerance.

The ±1° tolerance for the left and right inclination is very important and sensitive to level ground. Set the target vertically using a laser level (SST: 09958-3T060 or 09964-C1200). Position the laser level (A) at the center of the vehicle, centered on the roof above the windshield (same for short and long distance calibration).
    Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
Let the laser beam project from the center of the roof along the entire path to the center of the target, passing through the center of the emblem.
    Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
The laser level must be set to "ON", and the hold (lock) function must not be used.
    Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
The target must be attached to a rigid support material to maintain flatness.
    • The target must have reflective markings (not faded or poorly painted) that differ from lane markings.
    • Target is 30 cm wide and 100 cm high.
    • The installation area must NOT have cross hatching or text markings near the target.
    • The target must be well lit for optimal performance using constant lighting. There must be no continuous shadows cast on the target.
    • Light must be directed at the front of the target, and the front of the target must be brighter than the back of the target.

  2. Service Point Target Automatic Calibration (SPTAC) Procedure
    1. It is recommended to check the vehicle wheel alignment and tire pressure levels to ensure correct camera alignment to the "world" before starting calibration. The vehicle for calibration must be under the nominal production load.
    2. The windshield must be clean and free of silkscreen so that there is no obstruction to the camera.
    3. The service technician connects the diagnostic connector and starts the vehicle. The front view camera must not be activated by pressing the switch.
    4. The service calibration procedure may not work correctly if a system-level fault is active.
    5. When working with a replacement ECU: the service technician initiates the SPTAC reset configuration.
    6. The service technician either aligns the vehicle to the target, or the target to the vehicle. a. Locate the lower edge of the target at a height of 90 cm from the ground (max. tolerance: 1 cm). b. Position so that the center axis of the target and the center axis of the vehicle coincide (max. tolerance: 3 cm). c. Locate the near target (A) so that it is 0 cm (B) from the front of the bumper (max. tolerance: 5 cm). d. Position the far target (C) at 100 cm (D) in front of the bumper (max. tolerance: 5 cm).

    9. The technician must perform the long-distance calibration after checking the target location and the "OK" message on the diagnostic tool (perform calibration twice: short distance and long distance).
      Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
If the distance of 100 ± 5 cm (39.4 ± 2 in.) differs from the distance shown on the diagnostic tool, calibrate according to the value shown on the diagnostic tool.

Test Drive
Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
  • Be sure to perform a test drive to check normal operation after calibration.
  • Drive on a straight road (longer than 500 m) with two white or yellow lane markings at a speed above 40 mph (60 km/h), and check for the warning when you intentionally approach a lane marking.
  • LKA operates correctly if the spacing of the lane marking segments is less than 8 m.
  • Perform the test drive on a city road or highway.
Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
  • LKA is a system that helps prevent unintended lane departure and assists in steering the vehicle. Under no circumstances should you rely on the steering assist system; the driver must take the necessary precautions to identify safety issues.
  • The driver is responsible for being aware of surroundings and operating the vehicle safely.
  • Do not tint the windows or apply any coatings or accessories.
  • Do not allow water or liquid to contact the front view camera.
  • Do not remove front view camera components or damage the front view camera by a strong impact.
  • Do not place light-reflecting objects on the airbag cover.
  • Excessive noise may prevent the LKA warning signal from being heard.
High Beam Assist (HBA) System
Hyundai Palisade. Repair procedures
The system may not operate normally under the following conditions.
  • When the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is not detected due to a damaged or hidden lamp, etc.
  • When the lamp of an oncoming or preceding vehicle is covered by dust, snow, or water.
  • When the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is not detected due to exhaust gas, smoke, fog, snow, etc.
  • When the windshield is covered by foreign matter such as ice, dust, or fog, or is damaged.
  • When there is a lamp of similar shape to the lamp of the vehicle ahead.
  • When visibility is poor due to fog, heavy rain, or snow.
  • If the headlamp is not repaired or replaced at an authorized dealer.
  • If the headlamp aim is not adjusted properly.
  • When driving on a narrow winding road or an uneven road.
  • When driving downhill or uphill.
  • When only part of the vehicle ahead or a curved road is visible at an intersection.
  • When there is a traffic light, reflective sign, flashing sign, or mirror.
  • When road conditions are poor, such as wet or snow-covered roads.
  • When the headlamps are off but the fog lamps are on.
