Description and Operation

Description

TPMS Receiver: Integrated with BCM (Body Control Module) control
Hyundai Palisade. Description and operation
  1. Mode
    1. Commonwealth of Virginia
      • In this state, the receiver is shipped as a separate part. Therefore, service parts must arrive in this state.
      • In this state there is no automatic location, no sensor wake-up, no sensor monitoring, and no DTC monitoring.
      • This state indicates that platform-specific parameters must be written to the receiver and that the sensors are untrained.
    2. Normal State
      • To monitor tire inflation status and DTCs, the receiver must be in this state.
      • In this state, automatic sensor location/learning is enabled.
  2. Overview
    • Learn the TPMS sensor for automatic inflation monitoring.
    • Uses sensor information, distance traveled, background noise levels, auto learn status, short/open circuit output status, vehicle battery charge level, and internal receiver status to determine whether there is a system or vehicle malfunction.

Operation

  1. General Function
    • Auto-learn occurs only once per ignition cycle.
    • Upon successful completion, the IDs of the 4 wheel sensors are stored in memory for monitoring.
    • Until auto learn is completed, previously learned sensors are monitored for under-inflation / leak warnings.
  2. General conditions for learning new sensors:
    • The receiver must determine that it is confident that the sensor is not temporarily: a. Using vehicle speed. b. Using the reduction of confidence in previously learned sensors.
    • The typical continuous driving time at a speed greater than 25 km/h to learn a new sensor is up to 20 minutes.
  3. General conditions for canceling remote sensor learning:
    • This takes less than 20 minutes at a speed of 15.5 mph (20-30 km/h).
    • The reduction in confidence depends on the driving time of the vehicle at a speed greater than or equal to 12.4 mph (20-30 km/h).

Repair Procedures

Replacement

[TPMS Receiver (Integrated Body Control Unit (IBU))]
  1. Turn the ignition OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove box. (Refer to Body - Glove Box)
  3. Disconnect the body control unit connectors (A), then remove the integrated body control unit (B).

  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  5. After replacing the receiver, learn it using the GDS scan tool.

Diagnostic Procedure Using the Scan Tool

The main contents of the diagnostic procedure using the scan tool are as follows:
  1. Connect the self-diagnosis connector (16-pin) located in the lower driver side trim panel to the self-diagnosis device, then turn on the self-diagnosis device after turning the ignition key on.
  2. On the GDS vehicle selection screen, select "Vehicle Model" and "TPMS," then select OK.
