Conditions in which the power liftgate does not open

~1min read

The power liftgate cannot be opened or closed automatically when the vehicle is driven at a speed above 3 km/h.

WARNING

A warning sound will continue if you drive above 3 km/h with the liftgate open. Stop the vehicle immediately in a safe place and check whether the liftgate is open.

WARNING

Opening and closing the power liftgate more than 5 times in succession may damage the motor. In this case, the system switches to a safe state. The power liftgate will then not operate, and each press of the button will trigger the alarm three times. Do not touch the power liftgate for about 1 minute.

Information

  • The power liftgate cannot be operated when the engine is off. However, operating the liftgate consumes a large amount of electrical energy. To avoid discharging the battery, avoid excessive use (for example, more than 10 times in succession).
  • To prevent the battery from discharging, do not leave the liftgate open for a long period of time.
  • Do not attempt to modify or repair the power liftgate yourself. Only an authorized HYUNDAI dealer is allowed to perform such work.
  • When lifting the vehicle to replace a tire or perform repairs, do not open the power liftgate to avoid malfunction.
  • In cold and wet weather, the power liftgate may not operate properly due to freezing.
