Description

BSD is a system that measures the speed and distance of vehicles approaching from behind using two radar sensors of electromagnetic waves installed in the rear bumper. It detects any vehicle in the blind spot and issues a warning (visual and audible).
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD): Detects other vehicles in the area. BSD activates the BSD warning lamp for the driver. The warning lamp starts flashing when the driver turns on the turn signal to change into the lane where another vehicle is.
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA): Detects other vehicles approaching at high speed in the BSD zone and activates the BSD warning lamp for the driver. The warning lamp starts flashing when the driver turns on the turn signal without recognizing that a vehicle is suddenly approaching from that direction.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCTA) (rear of vehicle): When the vehicle is reversing, RCTA issues a warning to alert the driver to other vehicles approaching from behind or from the side.
System Service Mode
  1. When the engine is started with the ignition OFF, OFF mode is activated.
  2. When the ON switch is activated in OFF mode, passive mode is activated.
  3. When the engine is started with the ignition ON, passive mode is activated. ※ When ALL ON is selected, the switch is in its initial state: the last position is retained.
    • If IGN OFF → ON with the switch on, the switch is on.
    • If IGN OFF → ON with the switch OFF, the switch is OFF.
  4. If you start the engine with the BSD switch ON or activate BSD with ALL OFF, the outside mirror indicator lamp keeps flashing for 2-3 seconds. This informs the driver that the BSD system is ready. (If the system is in fail mode, there is no flashing.)
  5. If the activation conditions (speed and curve radius) are met while driving, active mode is activated (warning is issued).
  6. If the activation conditions (speed and curve radius) are not met while driving, passive mode is activated (warning is removed).
  7. If the BSD and LCA operation does not work in any mode, fail mode is activated.
  8. If BSD and LCA operate normally in fail mode, OFF mode is activated.
  9. When the OFF switch is pressed while the BSD and LCA function is in operation mode (active/passive), OFF mode is activated.
  10. Warning Zone
  11. BSD Warning ON Conditions: ① The body of the target vehicle is completely behind line A. ② Part of the target vehicle has crossed line B. ③ Part of the target vehicle has exceeded line D and hysteresis B. ④ All of the target vehicle has exceeded line E and hysteresis IN.
  12. BSD Warning OFF Conditions: ② The body of the target vehicle moves behind line B. ① The body of the target vehicle moves in front of line A. ③ All of the target vehicle has exceeded line D hysteresis and exit. ② All of the target vehicle has exceeded line E and hysteresis Out.
  13. LCA Warning ON Conditions: ① The target vehicle body is in front of line B. ② Part of the target vehicle has crossed line C. ③ Part of the target vehicle has exceeded line D and hysteresis B. ④ All of the target vehicle has exceeded line E and hysteresis IN. ⑤ When all of the above conditions are met, TTC (time to collision) is not less than 4.5 s.
  14. LCA OFF warning conditions: ① The target vehicle is in front of line B. ② The target vehicle has completely crossed line C. ③ The entire target vehicle has exceeded the D-line hysteresis and exit. ④ The entire target vehicle has exceeded line E and the Out hysteresis. ⑤ Under the above conditions, TTC (Time To Collision) is longer than 4.5 sec.
  15. Sensor activation conditions: ① BSD and LCA switch (indicated by the switch indicator) is ON. ② Vehicle speed: 30 km/h or more. ③ Curve radius: 125 m or more. ④ Relative vehicle speed: -10 to 250 km/h ("-" means the vehicle is overtaking the preceding vehicle).
  16. Sensor deactivation conditions: ① BSD and LCA switch (indicated by the switch indicator) is OFF. ② Vehicle speed: 28 km/h or less. ③ Curve radius: 125 m or less. ④ Relative vehicle speed: all values except -10 to 250 km/h. ("-" means the vehicle is overtaking the preceding vehicle).
  17. System control prohibition: ① Radar is blocked by debris: system status displays the blockage message.② Radar installation damaged by external impact: error code is set. ③ BSD and LCA system malfunction: error code is output. ④ Radar overheating: system status displays the overheating message.
  18. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
    Item Specification Notes
    Vehicle Speed 0 to -10 km/h R position
Time To Collision (TTC) 4~36 km/h +: Closing
    Operating zone 0.5 - 20 m Vehicle: 20 m
    Motorcycle: 15 m

① This function helps the driver detect other vehicles approaching from the front or rear when reversing out of a parking space. ② The warning is activated within 2 seconds depending on the time to collision (TTC), and the alarm is canceled when the person is excluded from the warning (the warning cannot be turned off).③ The warning area is as follows.
