Brake Assist
Your vehicle is equipped with a brake booster system that automatically adjusts during normal use.
If the engine stops or stalls while driving, the emergency braking system does not operate.
You can still stop the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal harder than usual. However, the braking distance will be longer than when brake assist is present.
With the engine off, the braking assist reserve decreases with each press of the brake pedal. Do not press the brake pedal repeatedly when power assistance is not available.
Apply the brake pedal only when necessary to maintain steering control on slippery surfaces.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions:
- Do not rest your foot on the brake pedal while driving. This will cause abnormal brake overheating, excessive wear of brake pads and linings, and longer stopping distances.
- When descending a long or steep hill, shift to a lower gear and avoid continuous use of the brakes. Continuous brake use will cause overheating and may result in temporary loss of braking effectiveness.
- Wet brakes may reduce the vehicle's ability to slow down safely. The vehicle may also pull to one side during braking. Gently apply the brakes to check whether they have been affected after driving through deep water. To dry the brakes, gently press the brake pedal to warm them up while maintaining a safe speed until normal braking performance returns. Avoid driving at high speed if your brakes are not working normally.
