Driving Your Vehicle

Proper Braking Practices

~1min read

WARNING

When leaving or parking the vehicle, wait until it stops and keep the brake pedal depressed. Move the shift lever to P (Park), apply the parking brake, and set the engine START/STOP button to OFF.

If the parking brake is not properly applied, the vehicle may move and injure yourself or others.

Brakes can be dangerous when wet! Brakes may get wet when driving through standing water or washing the vehicle. Wet brakes increase stopping distance and may cause the vehicle to pull to one side.

To dry the brakes, lightly depress the brake pedal until braking returns to normal, making sure you always maintain control of the vehicle. If the brake system does not return to normal operation, stop as soon as possible and contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Do not keep your foot on the brake pedal while driving. Constantly depressing the brake pedal, even lightly, may cause the brakes to overheat, wear excessively, or even fail.

If a tire puncture occurs while driving, brake gently and keep the vehicle in a straight line while decelerating. When you are traveling slowly enough, leave the road and stop in a safe place.

Keep your foot on the brake pedal when the vehicle is stopped to prevent it from moving forward.
