Seat belt system
WARNING
• To ensure the maximum level of protection while the vehicle is in motion, always wear your seat belt.
• Seat belts are most effective when the seatback is in the upright position.
• Children aged 12 years and younger should ride only in the rear seat, with proper safety measures taken.
Never allow children to ride in the front passenger seat. If a child older than 12 years rides in the front seat, the child must be securely fastened with the seat belt, and the seat must be moved to the rearmost position.
• Never place the shoulder belt under your arm or behind your back. An incorrectly positioned shoulder belt may cause serious injury in a collision. The shoulder belt must lie across the shoulder so that it crosses the collarbone at its midpoint.
• Avoid twisting the seat belt when fastening it. A twisted seat belt is less effective. In a collision, it may even dig into the body.
Make sure the seat belt is not twisted and lies flat.
• Be careful to avoid damaging the seat belt or the components of its buckle. If the seat belt or the components of its buckle are damaged, replace the seat belt.
WARNING
Seat belts are designed to be worn over the parts of the body that have strong bone structure; they should be positioned across the lower pelvis or across the pelvis, chest and shoulders, depending on the situation. Avoid positioning the lap portion of the seat belt across the abdomen.
The seat belts must be fastened as snugly as possible while maintaining comfort, in order to provide the level of protection for which they are designed.
A loose seat belt significantly reduces the level of protection for the occupant of the vehicle.
Take care to prevent the seat belt from becoming contaminated with polish, oils and chemicals, especially electrolyte.
The seat belt can be safely cleaned with toilet soap and water.
Replace the seat belt if it shows abrasion, contamination or damage to the webbing. It is very important to replace the seat belt completely if a person was wearing it during a severe collision, even if there is no visible damage to the belt.
Do not wear the belts twisted. Each belt must be used by only one person; it is dangerous to fasten a seat belt around a child sitting on an adult's lap.
WARNING
The owner must not make any changes to or additions to the vehicle that would prevent the normal operation of the seat belt pretensioners in eliminating belt slack, or that would prevent adjusting belt tension for the same purpose.
• When fastening the seat belt, be careful; insert it into the correct buckle and do not confuse it with the buckle of the adjacent seat.
This is very dangerous, because in this case the seat belt may not provide proper protection during an accident.
• Do not unfasten the seat belt; do not repeatedly fasten and unfasten the seat belt while the vehicle is in motion. This may result in loss of vehicle control and a traffic accident causing death, serious injury or property damage.
• When fastening the seat belt, make sure there are no hard or breakable objects under it.
• Make sure there are no foreign objects in the seat belt buckle. Otherwise, the belt cannot be fastened properly.
