Blind-Spot Collision Warning Operation

~2min read

Vehicle Detection

When a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, the side mirror indicator illuminates.

  • The Blind-Spot Collision Warning operates when your vehicle speed is above 20 km/h and the speed of the vehicle in the blind spot is above 7 mph (10 km/h).

The collision warning may activate when the turn signal is operated toward the detected vehicle.

  • To warn you of a possible collision, the side mirror indicator may flash and an audible warning may sound.
  • When the turn signal is turned off or you move away from the vehicle in the blind spot, the system returns to the vehicle detection state.

WARNING

  • The detection range of the rear corner radar is determined by the road width. On narrow roads, the system may detect vehicles in the next lane and warn you. On wide roads, the system may not be able to detect a vehicle moving in the next lane and may not warn you.
  • When the hazard warning lights are on, the collision warning triggered by turn signal operation may not work.

WARNING

The Blind-Spot Collision Warning may not operate in all situations.

To avoid serious injury or death:

  • Change the settings only after parking your vehicle in a safe place.
  • When another system's warning message or audible warning sounds, the Blind-Spot Collision Warning may not warn you.
  • You may not hear the audible warning of the Blind-Spot Collision Warning if the surrounding environment is too noisy.
  • Always stay in control of your vehicle. Always maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and adjust your speed according to road conditions.
  • Never attempt to deliberately activate the Blind-Spot Collision Warning by hitting people, animals, objects, or other vehicles.
