Cruise Control Operation
ESC On Condition
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the ESC and ESC OFF indicators illuminate for approximately three seconds and then turn off, after which ESC is on.
If this indicator remains illuminated, there may be a malfunction in the ESC system. Have your vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.
During Operation

When ESC is operating, the ESC indicator flashes:
- When you apply the brake under conditions that may lock the wheels, you may hear brake noise or feel a pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal and means that your ESC is active.
- When ESC is operating, the engine may not respond to the accelerator pedal. This is normal under these conditions.
- If cruise control was being used when ESC was activated, cruise control will automatically be canceled. Cruise control can be turned back on when road conditions permit. Refer to "Cruise Control System" later in this chapter.
- When driving out of mud or on a slippery road, engine speed (RPM) may not increase even when the accelerator pedal is pressed deeply. This is necessary to maintain vehicle stability and traction and does not indicate a problem.
ESC OFF Condition

To cancel ESC operation, press the ESC OFF button (the ESC OFF indicator will illuminate).
If the ignition switch is in the LOCK/OFF position while the ESC system is turned off, the ESC system will remain off. After restarting the engine, the ESC system will automatically turn back on.
