Low Tire Pressure Telltale and Tire Pressure Warning Light

TPMS does not replace manual tire pressure checks using a tire gauge. Temperature changes affect tire pressure. Refer to "Checking Tire Inflation Pressure" in the Maintenance chapter for proper tire inflation and the pressure measurement procedure.
When the TPMS warning light illuminates and a warning message appears on the instrument cluster display, one or more of your tires is significantly underinflated. The Low Tire Pressure Telltale shows which tire is significantly underinflated by illuminating the corresponding position light.
If any warning light comes on, reduce vehicle speed immediately, avoid sharp turns, and anticipate longer braking distances. Stop and check your tires as soon as possible. Inflate the tires to the correct pressure specified on the vehicle tire and loading information label or tire pressure label located on the driver's side center pillar.
If you cannot reach a service station or the tire cannot hold the added air, replace the low pressure tire with the spare tire.
The Low Tire Pressure Telltale remains on and the TPMS malfunction indicator may flash for one minute, then remain on (when the vehicle is driven at speeds above 25 km/h for about 10 minutes) until the tire pressure is corrected or the tire is replaced.
WARNING
In winter or cold weather, the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light may illuminate if tire pressure was adjusted to the recommended tire pressure in warm weather. This does not mean your TPMS is malfunctioning, because a drop in temperature causes a proportional decrease in tire pressure.
When you drive your vehicle from a warm place to a cold place, or from a cold place to a warm place, or outdoor temperature changes significantly, check the tire pressure and adjust the tires to the recommended tire inflation pressure.
WARNING
Low Tire Pressure Damage
Significantly low tire pressure makes the vehicle unstable and may contribute to loss of vehicle control and increased braking distances.
Continued driving on a low pressure tire may cause the tire to overheat and fail.
