Lane Follow Assist (LFA)

~2min read

The Lane Follow Assist system is designed to center the vehicle in the selected lane using the front view camera mounted on the upper part of the windshield.

It can only become active in combination with Smart Cruise Control, and thereby assists the driver in controlling the lateral movement of the vehicle.

WARNING

  • It is the driver's responsibility to steer the steering wheel for safe driving.
  • Do not turn the steering wheel abruptly while LFA is operating.
  • LFA assists steering wheel control so that the vehicle can stay in the center of the lane. LFA does not automatically control the steering wheel at all times, which means the driver must keep their hands on the steering wheel at all times while driving.
  • When using LFA, always be aware of the surroundings and road conditions, which may interrupt or stop LFA.

✽ NOTICE

  • Do not attach window tint, stickers, or windshield accessories where the front view camera is installed near the inside rearview mirror.
  • Removing or reinstalling the front view camera bracket or attaching window tint, stickers, or accessories may require the FCA to be carefully inspected and adjusted. In this case, have your vehicle inspected at an authorized Kia dealer.
  • Inspection or adjustment may be required when replacing parts related to the windshield or the front view camera, or the steering wheel. We recommend that the system be inspected at an authorized Kia dealer.

CAUTION

  • Depending on your surroundings and road conditions, LFA may not recognize the lane and may stop operating. Therefore, additional caution is required when driving with LFA on.
  • Be sure to check the non-operating conditions and driver warnings before using LFA.
  • Do not place reflective materials, such as white paper or a mirror, on the dashboard. Reflections of sunlight may cause LFA malfunction.
  • An excessively loud audio system may mask the warning sound from LFA.
  • If you keep your hands off the steering wheel while driving, the hands-off warning will activate and the steering assist system will be deactivated. Return your hands to the steering wheel, and the steering assist system will be reactivated.
  • When driving at high speed, the steering assist force may become weak and the vehicle may drift out of its lane. Additional caution is required and the speed limit must be observed.
  • Attaching an object to the steering wheel may interfere with steering assist.
  • Attaching an object to the steering wheel may interfere with the automatic warning system.
