Trunk Emergency Release

~1min read

Inside the Trunk

Your vehicle is equipped with a trunk emergency release lever located inside the trunk. If someone is accidentally locked in the trunk, the trunk can be opened by moving the lever in the direction of the arrow and pushing the trunk open.

WARNING

NEVER allow anyone to occupy the trunk of the vehicle at any time. If the trunk is partially or fully closed and a person is unable to get out, serious injury or death may result from lack of ventilation, rapid heating of exhaust gases, or exposure to cold weather conditions. The trunk is also a very dangerous place in the event of a collision because it does not protect the occupant and is part of the vehicle crush zone.

Inside the Vehicle

If you cannot open the trunk due to a discharged battery or other reasons, you can open the trunk from inside the vehicle.

Remove the cover (1) under the rear seat with the mechanical key, and pull the cable (2) to release the trunk. The cable is securely fastened, so it may be hard to pull. Therefore, insert an auxiliary tool such as a screwdriver into the loop and pull it comfortably.

  • You and your passengers should know the location of the trunk emergency release lever in this vehicle and how to open the trunk in case you are accidentally locked in the trunk.
  • Your vehicle should be locked and the smart key should be kept out of the reach of children. Parents should teach their children about the dangers of playing in trunks.
  • Use the release lever for emergencies only.

WARNING

Make sure there are no people or objects in the path of the trunk (or smart trunk) before use. Serious injury, vehicle damage, or damage to surrounding objects may occur if contact with the trunk (or smart trunk) occurs.
