Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the expansion tank. (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Expansion Tank")
  2. Remove the low pressure fuel hose. (Refer to Fuel System - "Fuel Hose")
  3. Remove the intake manifold (A).
    • Cover the intake port of the cylinder head with clean cloth or vinyl to prevent foreign material from entering.
    • Make sure the engine and radiator are cold to the touch.
    • Remove the radiator cap.
    • Loosen the drain plug and drain the coolant.
    • Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.
Before removing the intake manifold, drain the engine coolant. Otherwise, engine coolant may enter the intake port through the cylinder head vent holes, which may cause problems in the engine combustion chambers.
  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten the intake manifold bolts and nuts in several passes, as shown below.
    Tightening torque Step 1: 3.9 ~ 5.9 N·m Step 2: 26.5 ~ 31 N·m Step 3: Repeat step 2 two or more times.
Refill the engine coolant after installing the intake manifold and check the coolant level.
