Wireless Smartphone Charging System

~4min read

The wireless smartphone charging system is located in front of the center console.

Close all doors firmly and turn the Engine Start/Stop button to ON. To start wireless charging, place a smartphone equipped with wireless charging function on the wireless charging pad.

For best wireless charging results, place the smartphone in the center of the wireless charging pad.

The wireless charging system is designed for one smartphone equipped with the Qi wireless charging standard, developed by the Wireless Power Consortium. Please refer to the smartphone accessory cover or the smartphone manufacturer's homepage to check whether your smartphone supports the Qi function.

Smartphone Wireless Charging

1. Remove any objects from the smart phone charging pad, including the smart key. If there are foreign objects on the pad other than the smartphone, the wireless charging function may not operate properly.

2. Place the smartphone in the center of the wireless charging pad.

3. The indicator light will change to orange when wireless charging starts. After charging is complete, the orange light will change to green.

4. You can turn the wireless charging function ON or OFF by selecting USM on the Infotainment System.

The wireless charging system can be activated or deactivated by selecting ‘‘Settings → Vehicle → Convenience → Wireless Charging System’ from the settings menu on the instrument cluster and infotainment system screen.

If wireless charging does not work, carefully move your smartphone around the pad until the charging indicator light turns yellow. Depending on the smartphone, the charging indicator light may not turn green even after charging is complete.

If wireless charging does not operate properly, the orange light will blink for ten seconds and then turn off. In such cases, remove the smartphone from the pad and place it again on the pad, or check the charging status again.

If the smartphone is left on the charging pad when the Engine Start/Stop button is in the OFF position, the vehicle will warn you through warning messages and a sound (applicable to vehicles with the voice guidance function) after the 'Goodbye' function on the instrument cluster ends.

✽ NOTICE

For some smartphone manufacturers' phones, the system may not warn you even if the cell phone remains on the wireless charger. This is due to a special characteristic of the cell phone and is not a malfunction of the wireless charging system.

WARNING! Distracted Driving

Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control that may lead to an accident, severe personal injury, and death. The primary responsibility of the driver is the safe and legal operation of a vehicle, and the use of any portable devices, other vehicle equipment, or vehicle systems which take the driver's eyes, attention, and focus away from the safe operation of a vehicle or which are not permitted by law should never be used during operation of the vehicle.

CAUTION - Liquid in Wireless Smart Phone Charger

To prevent liquid from damaging the smartphone wireless charging system in your vehicle, securely close the tray cover when charging your phone.

WARNING! Metal Inside Wireless Charging System

If any metal object, such as coins, is placed between the wireless charging system and the smartphone, charging may be interrupted. Also, the metal object may become hot and potentially damage the charging system. If there is a metal object between the smartphone and the charging pad, immediately remove the smartphone. Remove the metal object after it has cooled.
