Seat Belt Care

~1min read

Seat belt systems must never be disassembled or modified. In addition, care must be taken to ensure that the seat belts and seat belt anchorages are not damaged by the seat, seat hinges, doors, or other interference.

WARNING

When returning the rear seatback to the upright position after it has been folded down, be careful not to damage the seat belt webbing and buckles. Make sure the webbing or buckle is not caught or pinched in the rear seat. A seat belt with damaged webbing or buckle will not be as strong and may fail during a collision or sudden stop, resulting in serious injury. If the webbing or buckle is damaged, replace it immediately.

Periodic Inspection

It is recommended to periodically inspect all seat belts for wear or damage of any kind. Any damaged parts must be replaced as soon as possible.

Keep Belts Clean and Dry

Seat belts must be kept clean and dry. If the belts become dirty, they may be cleaned with a mild soap solution and warm water. Do not use bleach, dye, strong detergents, or abrasives, as they may damage and weaken the webbing.

When to Replace Seat Belts

The entire seat belt assembly in use must be replaced if the vehicle has been involved in an accident. This must be done even if no damage is visible. We recommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
