Alarm and Theft Stage
Armed Stage
Using the Smart Key
Park the vehicle and turn off the engine. Activate the system as described below.
1. Turn the engine off.
2. Make sure that all doors (and the liftgate) and the hood are closed and locked.
3. Lock the doors by pressing the button on the front exterior door handle with the smart key in your possession.
After completing the steps above, the hazard warning lights will flash once to indicate that the system is armed.
If any door remains open, the doors will not lock and the horn will sound for 3 seconds. Close the door and try locking the doors again.
If the liftgate or hood remains open, the hazard warning lights will not operate and the alarm will not arm. After that, if the liftgate and hood are closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once.
• Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the smart key.
After completing the steps above, the hazard warning lights will flash once to indicate that the system is armed.
If any door, the liftgate, or the hood remains open, the hazard warning lights will not operate and the alarm will not arm. After that, if all doors, the liftgate, and the hood are closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once.
Using the Transmitter
Park the vehicle and turn off the engine. Activate the system as described below.
1. Turn off the engine and remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
2. Make sure that all doors, the liftgate, and the hood are closed and locked.
3. Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the transmitter.
After completing the steps above, the hazard warning lamps will flash once to indicate that the alarm system is armed.
If any door, the luggage compartment, or the hood is left open, the hazard warning lamps will not operate and the alarm will not arm. After that, if all doors, the luggage compartment, and the hood are closed, the hazard warning lamps will flash once.
• Do not arm the system until all passengers have left the vehicle. If the system is armed while a passenger remains in the vehicle, the alarm may be triggered when the remaining passenger(s) leave the vehicle. If any door, the luggage compartment, or the hood is opened within 30 seconds after entering the arming stage, the system is disarmed to prevent unnecessary alarm activation.
Theft Stage
The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the system is armed.
- A front or rear door is opened without using the mechanical key or transmitter (or smart key).
- The luggage compartment is opened without using the mechanical key or transmitter (or smart key).
- The hood is opened.
The horn will sound and the hazard warning lamps will flash continuously for approximately 27 seconds (2 cycles). To turn off the system, unlock the doors with the transmitter (or smart key).
