Defogging Logic

To reduce the likelihood of fogging on the inside of the windshield, the air intake or air conditioning is controlled automatically according to certain conditions, such asorposition. To cancel the automatic defogging logic or return to the automatic defogging logic, perform the following.

Manual Climate Control System

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Press the defroster button ( ).

3. Within 3 seconds after pressing the defroster button, press the air intake control button at least 5 times within 3 seconds.

If the battery is discharged or disconnected, the defogging logic status is reset.

Automatic Climate Control System

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Press the defroster button ( ).

3. While pressing the A/C button, press the air intake control button at least 5 times within 3 seconds.

The recirculation indicator flashes 3 times at 0.5-second intervals. This indicates that the anti-fog logic has been canceled or returned to the programmed state.

If the battery is discharged or disconnected, the defogging logic status is reset.

Automatic Defogging System

The automatic defogging system reduces the possibility of fogging on the inside of the windshield by automatically detecting moisture inside the windshield.

The automatic defogging system operates when the heater or air conditioner is on.

This indicator illuminates when the automatic defogging system detects humidity on the inside of the windshield and is activated.

The automatic anti-fog system removes excess moisture inside the windshield in stages. For example, if the automatic defogging does not clear fogging inside the windshield in Step 1 (outside air position), it attempts to prevent fogging again in Step 2 (air conditioner operation).

Step 1: Outside air position
Step 2: Air conditioner operation
Step 3: Direct airflow toward the windshield
Step 4: Increase airflow toward the windshield

To cancel or reset the automatic defogging system

Press and hold the windshield anti-fog button for 3 seconds with the ignition switch in the ON position. When the automatic defogging system is cancelled, the ADS OFF symbol will blink 3 times, and ADS OFF will be displayed on the climate control information screen.

When the automatic defogging system is reset, the ADS OFF symbol will flash 6 times without a signal.

CAUTION

Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the windshield on the passenger side. Damage to system parts may occur, which may or may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
