Immobilizer System

Your vehicle may be equipped with an electronic engine immobilizer system that reduces the risk of unauthorized use of the vehicle.

Your immobilizer system consists of a small transponder in the ignition key and electronic devices inside the vehicle.

With the immobilizer system, when you insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position, the system checks, identifies, and verifies that the ignition key is valid.

If the key is identified as valid, the engine will start.

If the key is not recognized as valid, the engine will not start.

To disable the immobilizer system:

Insert the ignition key into the key cylinder and turn it to the ON position.

To activate the immobilizer system:

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. The immobilizer system is activated automatically. Without a valid ignition key for your vehicle, the engine will not start.

Your immobilizer customer password is a unique password and must be kept confidential. Do not leave this number anywhere in your vehicle.

✽ NOTICE

Keep each key separately to avoid incorrect starting.

✽ NOTICE

To prevent theft of your vehicle, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle. Your immobilizer password is a unique customer password and must be kept confidential. Do not leave this number anywhere in your vehicle.

Do not place metal accessories near the ignition switch.

Metal accessories may interrupt the transponder signal and may prevent the engine from starting.

If you need additional keys or lose your keys, contact an authorized Kia dealer.

CAUTION - Immobilizer damage

Do not expose the immobilizer system to moisture, static electricity, or rough handling. This may damage the immobilizer.

CAUTION - Immobilizer modification

Do not alter, modify, or adjust the immobilizer system, because this may cause the immobilizer system to malfunction.

✽ NOTICE

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance may void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
