What to Do in an Emergency

Using the Tire Mobility Kit

~2min read

1. Remove the speed limit label (1) from the sealant bottle (2) and place it in a visible location inside the vehicle, such as on the steering wheel, to remind the driver not to drive too fast.

2. Sealant filling: Strictly follow the specified sequence, otherwise sealant may leak out under high pressure.

CAUTION

Before using the tire repair kit, carefully read the instructions attached to the sealant bottle. Remove the speed limit label on the sealant bottle and place it in a visible location. Always drive within the speed limit.

3. Shake the sealant bottle.

4. Screw the fill hose (a) onto the connector of the sealant bottle (1).

5. Insert the sealant bottle into the compressor housing (b) so that the bottle stands upright.

6. Make sure the button (9) on the compressor is not pressed.

7. Unscrew the valve cap from the valve of the damaged tire and screw the sealant fill hose (3) of the bottle onto the valve.

✽ NOTICE

If sealant is injected when the tire pressure injection valve and sealant supply hose are not fully locked, sealant may spill out and clog the valve.

8. Connect the compressor to the vehicle power outlet using the power cable and plug connectors (4).

✽ NOTICE

Use only the front passenger side power outlet.

9. Using the engine START/STOP button, set to ON: turn on the compressor and let it run for approximately 5 to 7 minutes to fill the tire with sealant to the proper pressure (see Tire and Wheel in Chapter 8). Be careful not to overinflate the tire and keep away from the tire when it is inflated. When the tire and wheel are damaged, do not use the Tire Mobility Kit for your safety.

WARNING

Do not attempt to drive the vehicle if tire pressure is below 200 kPa (29 psi). This may cause an accident due to sudden tire failure.

10. Turn off the compressor.

11. Disconnect the hose from the sealant bottle connector and from the tire valve.

Return the Tire Mobility Kit to its storage location in the vehicle.

WARNING

Carbon monoxide poisoning and suffocation are possible if the engine is operated in a poorly ventilated or non-ventilated area (for example, inside a building).

Distributing the Sealant

12. Drive immediately for approximately 7 to 10 km (4 to 6 miles) or about 10 minutes to evenly distribute the sealant in the tire.

When you use the Tire Mobility Kit, the tire pressure sensors and wheel may become contaminated with sealant. Therefore, have the tire pressure sensors and wheels checked by an authorized Kia dealer if they are coated with sealant and have your vehicle inspected.
