Removal

Tire Removal
  1. Deflate the tire and remove the balance weights.
    • The tire bead should be broken approximately 90° from the valve side of the wheel. The bead breaker should not be set too deep.
    • Avoid contact between the tire/tool and the valve when dismounting.
    • Dismounting should end near the valve.
Sensor Removal
Handle the sensor carefully.
  1. Remove the valve nut.
Do not reuse the valve nut.
  2. Discard the valve assembly.

Installation

Sensor Installation
  • Handle the sensor carefully.
  • Avoid contact with lubricant whenever possible.
  1. Connect the valve to the sensor and turn the valve 3 times so that the square part of the screw is in the slot.
    • The fit must not be tight, i.e., it must be possible to easily adjust the valve angle.
    • Make sure the wheel being installed is designed for sensor installation. There is normally a mark indicating this.
    • Make sure the valve hole and the mating surface of the wheel are clean.
  2. Install the assembly on the wheel.
Make sure the sensor legs remain in contact with the wheel throughout the remaining assembly process.
  3. Tighten the washer and nut by hand until the valve thread meets the built-in calibrated nut stop.
Make sure the bushing remains in contact with the wheel.
  4. Using a torque wrench, tighten the nut to 2.95 ± 0.37 lb-ft (0 ± 0.5 N·m). A feeling of breaking loose is normal, as the calibrated stop in the nut clicks and torque drops by 1.7 lb-ft (2.3 N·m).
  • Increase the torque smoothly to achieve a clean break of the stop.
  • Do not exceed the specified torque.
  • Do not use electric or pneumatic tools.
Tire Fitting
Use only wheels designed for TPMS sensor installation.
  1. Lubricate the tire bead, not the rim. Do not apply excessive lubricant.
  2. Start mounting the tire approx. 5.9 in (15 cm) from the valve.
  3. Move the mounting tool away from the valve.
Avoid contact between the tire/tool and the valve.
  4. Finish with the mounting tool near the valve.
  5. Inflate / correct the pressure, then install the valve cap. Record the sensor ID (wireless communication).
