Removal and Installation

  1. Loosen the drain plug, then drain the engine coolant. Remove the radiator cap to drain the coolant faster.
  2. Remove the water pump drive belt (A).
    1. Install the SST (09252-3D100) between the crankshaft pulley and the drive belt.
    2. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise. Then remove the drive belt.
When installing the water pump drive belt
    1. Place SST (09252-03200) between the crankshaft pulley and the drive belt.
    2. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise. Then install the drive belt.
  3. Remove the water pump pulley (A) and the dust cover (B).

    Tightening torque: 7.8 ~ 9.8 N·m

  4. Remove the water pump (A) with gasket.

    Tightening torque: 18.6 ~ 24 N·m

  5. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System)
  6. Remove the water pump cover (B) with the gasket and the inlet pipe (A).

    Tightening torque: 18.6 ~ 24 N·m

  7. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, using a new water pump gasket.
  8. Fill the engine coolant.
  9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  10. Recheck the coolant level.

Inspection

  1. Inspect each component for cracks, damage, or wear, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
  2. Inspect the bearing for damage, abnormal noise, and rough rotation, and replace the water pump assembly if necessary.
  3. Check for coolant leakage. If coolant leaks from the hole, the seal is damaged. Replace the water pump assembly.
A small amount of "weeping" from the weep hole is normal.
