Removal of Steering Gear

Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.

Tightening torque: 88.2 ~ 108 N·m

Disconnect the stabilizer link (B) from the front strut assembly (A) after loosening the nut.

Tightening torque: 98.1 ~ 118 N·m

Remove the cotter pin and castle nut, then disconnect the tie rod end (A) from the front knuckle.

Tightening Torque: 23.5 ~ 33 N·m

Loosen the bolt and nut, and remove the lower arm (A).

Tightening torque: 98.1 ~ 118 N·m

Loosen the bolt (A), then disconnect the universal joint assembly from the steering gear shaft.

Tightening torque: 32.4 ~ 37 N·m

Remove the under cover. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover")

Loosen the bolts (A, B) and remove the upper roller rod bracket. Tightening torque: (A) 107.9 ~ 128 N·m (B) 49.0 ~ 64 N·m

Remove the stopper bolt (A) of the roller rod.

Tightening Torque: 107.9 ~ 128 N·m

Disconnect the muffler rubber mount (A).

Loosen the bolts and nuts, then remove the subframe. Tightening torque: Bolts: (A) 44.1 ~ 59 N·m (B) 156.9 ~ 176 N·m (16.0 ~ 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 ~ 130.2 lbf·ft) Nuts: (C) 44.1 ~ 59 N·m (D) 156.9 ~ 176 N·m (16.0 ~ 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 ~ 130.2 lbf·ft)

Loosen the bolts (A - 4 pcs) and remove the stabilizer bar (B) from the subframe.

Tightening Torque: 49.0 ~ 64 N·m

Loosen the bolt and remove the protective cover (A).

Tightening torque: 6.9 ~ 10.8 N·m

Remove the steering gear (B) from the crossmember by loosening the mounting bolts (A - 4 pcs).

Tightening torque: 88.2 ~ 108 N·m

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Check the wheel alignment. (Refer to Suspension System - "Alignment")
