Armed Stage

Park the vehicle and turn off the engine. Activate the system as described below.

1. Turn off the engine.

2. Make sure that all doors (and the tailgate) and the hood are closed and locked.

3. Lock the doors by pressing the door lock button on the electronic key.

After performing the steps above, the hazard warning lights will flash once (with the Smart Key, the horn also sounds once) to indicate that the system is armed.

If any door (or the tailgate) or the hood remains open, the hazard warning lights and horn will not activate, and the theft alarm will not operate. If all doors, the tailgate, and the hood are closed after the lock button is pressed, the hazard warning lights will flash once.

The system can also be armed by locking the front doors with the key; however, when using this method, the hazard warning lights will not flash.

The anti-theft alarm system can be deactivated at an authorized Kia dealer. If you need this function, contact an authorized Kia dealer.

Do not arm the system until all passengers have left the vehicle. If the system is armed while passengers remain in the vehicle, the alarm may be triggered when the remaining passengers exit the vehicle. If any door (or the liftgate) or the engine hood is opened within 30 seconds after the system enters armed mode, the system is disarmed to prevent unnecessary alarm activation.
