The Smart Key will not work if any of the following occurs:
- You have exceeded the operating range limit (approximately 10 m [32.8 ft]).
- The battery in the Smart Key is discharged.
- Other vehicles or objects may block the signal.
- The weather is very cold.
- The Smart Key is near a radio transmitter, such as a radio station or airport, which may interfere with normal transmitter operation.
If the Smart Key does not operate properly, you can lock and unlock the doors with the mechanical key. If you have a problem with the Smart Key, contact an authorized Kia dealer.
- If the transmitter is in close proximity to your mobile phone or smartphone, the signal from the transmitter may be blocked by normal operation of your cellular phone or smartphone. This is especially likely when the phone is in use, such as making or receiving calls, sending or receiving text messages, and/or sending or receiving e-mail.
Avoid placing the transmitter and a mobile phone or smartphone together in the same place, such as a trouser or jacket pocket, and keep a sufficient distance between the two devices.
