~2min read
Improper or incomplete maintenance may lead to problems. This chapter provides instructions only for maintenance items that are easy to perform.
✽ NOTICE
Improper owner maintenance during the warranty period may affect warranty coverage. For details, refer to the separate Warranty and Maintenance Booklet provided with your vehicle. If you are unsure of any maintenance or service procedure, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
- Do not place heavy objects or apply excessive force on the engine cover (if equipped) or fuel-related parts.
- When inspecting the fuel system (fuel lines and fuel injection devices), we recommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
- Do not drive for extended periods with the engine cover (if equipped) removed.
- When inspecting the engine compartment, keep away from fire. Fuel, washer fluid, etc. are highly flammable. Oils may also cause a fire.
- Before touching the battery, ignition cables, and wiring, you must disconnect the battery "-" terminal. You may receive an electric shock from the electrical current.
- When removing the driver's side (-) flat head cover trim, be careful not to damage the cover.
- Be careful when replacing and cleaning bulbs to avoid burns or electric shock.
WARNING - Maintenance Work
- Performing maintenance on a vehicle can be dangerous. You may seriously injure yourself while performing some maintenance procedures. If you do not have sufficient knowledge and experience, or suitable tools and equipment to do the job, we recommend that the system be serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.
- Working under the hood with the engine running is dangerous. It becomes even more dangerous when you wear jewelry or loose clothing. They may become entangled in moving parts and cause injury. Therefore, if you must run the engine while working under the hood, be sure to remove all jewelry (especially rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and any ties, scarves, and similar loose clothing before approaching the engine or cooling fans.
