Engine Compartment Precautions (Diesel)

~1min read
  • The injector operates under high voltage (up to 200 V). Therefore, the following accidents may occur.
    - Direct contact with the injector or injector wiring may cause an electric shock or damage to the muscular or nervous system.
    - The electromagnetic wave from an operating injector may cause a pacemaker to malfunction.
  • Follow the safety precautions below when inspecting the engine compartment with the engine running.
    - Do not touch the injector, injector wiring, and engine ECM while the engine is running.
    - Do not disconnect the injector connector while the engine is running.
    - Persons using a pacemaker must not approach the engine while it is being started or running.

WARNING – Diesel Engine

Never work on the injection system while the engine is running or within 30 seconds after the engine is stopped. The high-pressure pump, rail, injectors, and high-pressure pipes remain under high pressure even after the engine has stopped. A fuel spray produced by fuel leaks may cause serious injury if it contacts the body. Persons using a pacemaker must not approach within 30 cm of the ECM or wiring harness inside the engine compartment while the engine is running, as large currents in the engine control electronic system produce significant magnetic fields.
