If the engine stalls at an intersection or a crossing

If the engine stalls at an intersection or a crossing, shift the gear selector lever to N (Neutral) and push the vehicle to a safe location.

If you have a flat tire on the road

If you get a flat tire while driving:

  1. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle slow down while keeping it straight on the road.

Do not brake immediately or try to move to the roadside, as you may lose control. Once the vehicle is traveling at a speed that is safe to do so, brake gently and stop at the roadside.

Stop as far as possible from the traffic lane, on a level section. If you are on a highway, do not stop on the median strip between the two main roadways.
  • Once the vehicle is stopped, turn on the hazard warning lights, apply the parking brake, then shift the transmission to P (automatic transmission) or reverse (manual transmission).
  • Ask all passengers to get out of the vehicle. Make sure they exit on the side away from traffic.
  • To change the flat tire, follow the instructions provided later in this section.
  • If the engine stalls on the road

    1. Reduce your speed gradually, keeping the vehicle straight.

Carefully move toward the shoulder to reach a safe place.

  • Turn on the hazard warning lights.
  • Try to restart the engine. If the engine does not start, contact an authorized Kia dealer or seek qualified assistance.
  • Test yourself
