FCA Front Radar Sensor

~1min read

For the FCA system to operate properly, always check that the sensor or sensor cover is clean and free of dirt, snow, and debris. Dirt, snow, or foreign substances on the sensor may adversely affect sensor performance.

Warning Message and Indicator

When the radar sensor cover is blocked by dirt, snow, or debris, FCA system operation may be temporarily suspended. In this case, a warning message will appear on the LCD display. Remove the dirt, snow, or debris and clean the radar sensor cover before operating the FCA system. The system will operate normally once such foreign substances are removed. The FCA system may not operate properly in an area (for example, open country) where any substances are not detected after the engine is started.

✽ NOTICE

  • Do not attach foreign objects, such as bumper stickers or bumper guards, near the radar sensor. This may adversely affect radar recognition performance.
  • Always keep the radar sensor and sensor cover clean and free of dirt and debris.
  • Use only a soft cloth when washing the vehicle. Do not spray water under high pressure directly at the sensor or sensor cover.
  • Be careful not to apply unnecessary force to the front sensor area. If the sensor moves from its correct position due to an external force, the system may malfunction even without a warning lamp or message. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
  • If the front bumper is damaged in the area of the radar sensor, the FCA system may malfunction. We recommend having the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
  • Use only genuine parts to repair or replace a damaged sensor or sensor cover. Do not paint the sensor cover.
  • Playing the vehicle audio system at a high volume may make it difficult to hear the FCA system warning sounds.
