System Limitations
The FCA system is designed to monitor the vehicle ahead using radar sensor signals, warn the driver of an imminent collision, and apply emergency braking if necessary. In certain situations, the radar sensor may fail to detect a vehicle ahead. In these cases, the FCA system may not operate. The driver must pay attention in the following situations, where FCA operation may be limited:
Vehicle Detection
The sensor may be limited when:
- The radar sensor is blocked by a foreign object or debris.
- Bad weather, such as heavy rain or snow, blocks the field of view of the radar sensor.
- There is electromagnetic wave interference
- Strong uneven reflection from the radar sensor is present.
- Radar sensor recognition is limited.
- The vehicle ahead is too small to be detected (for example, a motorcycle, etc.).
- The vehicle ahead is a special-purpose vehicle or a vehicle of unusual shape, such as a truck or trailer.
- The vehicle ahead is driving erratically.
- The vehicle is on an unpaved or uneven rough surface, or on roads with sudden changes in gradient.
- The vehicle is driving underground or inside a building.
- The vehicle is driven near locations containing metal objects, such as a construction zone, railway, etc.
- Sensor recognition suddenly changes after driving over a speed bump.
- The vehicle vibrates or shakes excessively.
- The vehicle ahead turns at a roundabout.
- The radar or sensor cover is damaged.
- The vehicle passes through a tunnel, a toll gate, or a partially paved road.
- Radar sensor recognition exceeds its limit.

- Driving on curves
FCA system performance may be limited when driving on a curve. The FCA system may not recognize a vehicle ahead even if it is in the same lane. It may issue a warning message and warning sound prematurely, or it may not issue a warning message or warning sound at all. When driving on a curve, be careful, keep a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed and maintain a safe distance.

The FCA system may recognize a vehicle in an adjacent lane when driving on a curved road. In this case, the system may apply the brakes. Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving. If necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed and maintain a safe distance. Also, if necessary, you can depress the accelerator pedal to prevent unnecessary deceleration of your vehicle by the system. Always check the traffic conditions around the vehicle.

- Driving on slopes
FCA system performance may be limited when driving uphill or downhill, and it may not recognize a vehicle ahead in the same lane. This may cause a warning message and warning sound to occur prematurely, or it may not issue a warning message and warning sound at all.
When the FCA system suddenly recognizes a vehicle ahead while driving over a slope, you may experience sudden deceleration.
Always look ahead when driving uphill or downhill and, if necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance.

- Lane change
When a vehicle changes lanes in front of you, the FCA system may not detect the vehicle immediately, especially if it changes lanes abruptly. In this case, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed and maintain a safe distance.

When driving in stop-and-go traffic, and a vehicle ahead moves out of the lane while a vehicle stops in front of you, the FCA system may not immediately detect the new vehicle in front of you. In this case, keep a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed and maintain a safe distance.

- Vehicle Recognition
If the vehicle ahead has cargo extending out of the rear of the vehicle, or if the vehicle ahead has a high ground clearance, additional special attention is required. The FCA system may not recognize cargo extending from the vehicle. In such cases, keep a safe braking distance from the rearmost object and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed and maintain distance.
WARNING! FCA System Testing
The FCA system may not operate in certain situations. Therefore, never test FCA system operation using a person or object, as this may result in serious injury or even death.
WARNING - FCA System and Towing
Turn off the FCA system in the user settings on the LCD display before towing another vehicle. Using the brake while towing may adversely affect the safety of your vehicle.
✽ NOTICE
In some cases, the FCA system may be canceled due to electromagnetic interference.
WARNING
- Exercise extreme caution if the vehicle ahead has a load extending rearward from the cab, or when the vehicle ahead has a high ground clearance.
- The FCA system is designed to detect and monitor a vehicle ahead through sensor recognition. It is not designed to detect bicycles, motorcycles, or small wheeled objects such as luggage bags, shopping carts, or baby strollers.
- When replacing or reinstalling the front bumper or radar, have the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
