System Malfunction

If the "Check System" warning message appears, the system is not operating properly. In this case, have the system inspected at a qualified workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
WARNING
- The Driver Attention Warning system does not replace safe driving practices; it is only a convenience feature. It is the driver's responsibility to always drive carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations from occurring. Always pay attention to road conditions.
- This may indicate a break is needed depending on the driver's driving style or habits, even if the driver does not feel tired.
- A driver who feels tired should take a break, even if the Driver Attention Warning system does not suggest one.
NOTICE
The Driver Attention Warning system uses the camera sensor mounted on the windshield. To keep the camera sensor in the best condition, observe the following:
- Do not disassemble the camera or attach any window tinting, coatings, or accessories. If the camera is disassembled and reassembled, have the system inspected at a qualified workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner to check the system for calibration requirements.
- Do not place reflective objects (such as white paper or a mirror) on top of the instrument panel. Any light reflection may cause the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system to malfunction.
- Take extreme care to keep the camera sensor away from water.
- Do not disassemble the camera assembly or strike the camera assembly.
• Playing the car audio system at high volume may distract the driver's attention. The warning sound of the alert system will be heard.
CAUTION
The Driver Attention Warning system may malfunction or provide a limited number of warnings in the following situations:
- Lane detection performance is limited. (For more details, refer to "Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)" on page 6-99.)
- The vehicle is driven aggressively or steers sharply to avoid an obstacle (e.g., construction site, other vehicles, fallen objects, bumpy road).
- Forward vehicle handling is significantly impaired (possibly due to a large tire pressure difference, uneven tire wear, or wheel alignment/toe-in issues).
- The vehicle is driving on a winding road.
- The vehicle is driving on a bumpy road.
- The vehicle is driving in a windy area.
- The vehicle is being controlled by the following assist systems:
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
- Smart Cruise Control (SCC)
