Tire Replacement

~2min read
Kia Soul. Tire replacement

If the tire is worn evenly, the tread wear indicator (A) will appear as a solid band across the tread. This indicates that the tread depth is less than 1.6 mm (1/16 in) remaining on the tire. In this case, replace the tire.

Do not wait until the band appears across the entire tread before replacing the tire.

NOTICE

We recommend using tires originally supplied with the vehicle when replacing tires.

Otherwise, vehicle handling will be affected.

CAUTION

When replacing tires, re-check and tighten the wheel nuts after driving approximately 50 km (31 miles), and repeat the check after approximately 1,000 km (620 miles). If the steering wheel shakes or the vehicle vibrates while driving, the tire may be out of balance. Balance the tires. If the problem is not resolved, consult a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

WARNING

Tire Replacement

  • Driving on worn tires is very dangerous and reduces braking effectiveness, steering precision, and road grip.
  • Your vehicle is equipped with tires designed to provide safe driving and handling. Do not use a tire and wheel size or type different from the one originally installed on your vehicle. It may affect the safety and performance of your vehicle, which may lead to failure or rollover and serious injury. When replacing tires, be sure to equip all four wheels with tires and wheels of the same size, type, tread, brand, and load capacity.
  • Using tires of any other size or type may seriously affect ride comfort, handling, ground clearance, braking distance, body-to-tire clearance, snow tire clearance, and speedometer accuracy.
  • It is best to replace all four tires at the same time. If this is not possible or necessary, replace the two front or two rear tires as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect your vehicle's handling.
  • ABS works by comparing wheel speeds. Tire size can affect wheel speed. When replacing tires, all 4 tires must be the same size as originally supplied with the vehicle. Using tires of a different size may cause the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) to operate incorrectly.

Compact Spare Tire Replacement (if equipped)

The compact spare tire has a shorter service life than a standard-size tire. Replace it when you see the tread wear indicator bands on the tire. A replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your new vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare wheel is not intended to be fitted to a standard-size wheel, and the compact spare wheel is not intended to accept a standard-size tire.
