Controls
Temperature control dial
This dial adjusts the temperature.
Turn the dial clockwise for warmer air and counterclockwise for cooler air.
Fan Speed Dial
The fan has seven speeds.
AUTO position
The airflow volume is adjusted automatically according to the set temperature.
Position other than AUTO
The airflow volume varies depending on the dial setting.
Position 0
To turn off the system, turn the dial to position 0.
Air distribution selector dial
Turn the dial to select the air distribution mode (page 5-4).
AUTO position
Air distribution is adjusted automatically to the selected temperature.
Position other than AUTO
The desired air distribution can be set using the dial.
CAUTION
With the dial set to the
position and the temperature dial in the mid-range, heated air is directed to the feet, and air at a somewhat lower temperature is directed to the upper body and face through the center, left and right dash vents. When the fan speed control dial is in the ON position and the air distribution selector dial is in the
position, the air conditioner is switched on automatically, and outside air intake mode is selected automatically to remove fog/frost from the windshield.
A/C air conditioning switch
The air conditioning system (cooling/dehumidifying functions) can be turned on or off by pressing the button when the temperature control dial is in a position other than 0.
When the air conditioning is turned on, the indicator light comes on.
CAUTION
The air conditioning may not operate when the outside temperature drops below 0 °C.
Recirculation mode switch
Use it to select outside air intake or recirculation of the air inside the passenger compartment. Press the button to select outside air/recirculation.
Recirculation mode (indicator light on)
Outside air intake is closed.
Use recirculation when driving through tunnels, in heavy traffic (when exhaust fumes are heavy), or when you need to cool the cabin quickly.
Outside air intake (indicator light off)
Outside air may flow into the vehicle body. Use this mode for ventilation and to defog the windows.
WARNING
Do not use the
setting in
low temperatures or in rain: using the
position in
low temperatures or in rain is a safety hazard because it causes the windows to fog up. Reduced visibility may lead to a serious accident.
Automatic Air Conditioning Operation
1. Set the airflow mode selector dial to AUTO.
2. Set the recirculation switch to outside air intake (indicator light off).
CAUTION
If recirculation mode is used for a long time in low temperatures and high humidity, the windshield may fog up quickly.
3. Set the fan speed control dial to AUTO.
4. Press the A/C switch to turn on the air conditioning (the indicator light comes on).
5. Set the temperature control dial to the desired position.
6. To turn off this system, set the fan speed control dial to 0.
CAUTION
Setting the temperature to the minimum or maximum will not reach the desired temperature any faster.
After the heating is turned on, the system limits airflow until the system has warmed up, to prevent cold air from blowing out of the vents.
(European model) For optimum temperature, set the temperature to around "22.0". If necessary, adjust to the desired value.
(Non-European models) For optimum temperature, set the temperature to around "25.0". If necessary, adjust to the desired value.
Defrosting and defogging the windshield
Set the airflow mode selector dial to
and set the
fan speed control dial to the desired speed.
In this position, outside air intake is selected automatically, and when the fan speed control dial is set to ON, air conditioning is turned on automatically. The air conditioning will directly supply dehumidified air to the windshield and front door windows (page 5-4). The volume of air delivered will be increased.
WARNING
When using the windshield defogging function, set the temperature control dial to medium or high temperature (position
):
Setting
with the temperature control dial set to cold air is dangerous, as it may cause the outside surface of the glass to fog up. Reduced visibility may lead to a serious accident.
CAUTION
To defog the glass more quickly, increase the air temperature using the temperature control dial.
Sunlight/Temperature Sensor
The air conditioning system measures the temperature inside and outside the vehicle and the level of sunlight.
It then adjusts the cabin temperature accordingly.
CAUTION
Do not cover the sensors, as the air conditioning system will not operate correctly.
