Maintaining aluminum wheel rims
Aluminum wheel rims are covered with a protective coating. To properly protect this coating, special care must be taken.
CAUTION
Do not use detergents other than mild ones. Check the ingredients before using a detergent. Otherwise, the detergent may discolor the aluminum wheel rims.
CAUTION
Do not use wire brushes or any abrasive cleaners, polishing pastes or solvents to clean aluminum wheel rims. They may damage the coating.
Always use a sponge or soft cloth to clean the wheel rims.
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm or cold water. Also clean the wheel rims after driving on dusty or salted roads. This will prevent corrosion from forming.
Avoid washing your vehicle in automatic car washes that use high-speed or hard brushes.
(Vehicles with 16-inch wheels) If the aluminum wheel rims lose their shine, use a wax that does not contain polishing powder.
