Maintaining plastic parts

~1min read

  • Do cleaning plastic headlight lenses, do not use petrol, paraffin, alcohol, paints, solvents, or strongly acidic or strongly alkaline detergents.

Otherwise, chemical agents may significantly discolour or damage the lens surface, causing loss of function. If the lenses are accidentally exposed to the above substances, rinse them with water immediately.

  • If plastic parts, such as bumpers, are accidentally exposed to chemicals such as petrol, oils, engine coolant or battery electrolyte, they may discolour, fade or the paint may peel. Wipe off the chemical immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Car wash equipment may use high-temperature water and high pressure.
  • If the nozzle of the washing equipment is too close to or stays too long near a plastic part, the water jet may deform that part or damage its paint coating.
  • Do not use waxes containing abrasive materials. Using waxes containing abrasive materials may damage the paint.
  • In addition, do not use electric or pneumatic polishing equipment. Heat generated by friction may deform plastic or damage the paint coating.
  • Protection against rodents

We recommend additional protection against rodents for the sound-insulating mats under the engine cover and for the air conditioning hose sheathing. To carry out this protection, we recommend consulting a specialist service; we recommend an Authorised Mazda Service Centre.
