Fuel filler door and cap

~1min read

WARNING

When removing the fuel filler cap, loosen it slightly and wait until the hissing stops before removing it completely: Fuel vapor is dangerous.

Fuel can burn skin and eyes and cause poisoning if swallowed. Fuel vapor escapes when there is pressure in the fuel tank and the filler cap is removed too quickly.

Before refueling, turn off the engine and keep flames or sparks away from the fuel filler: Fuel vapor is dangerous. It can ignite from sparks or flame, causing serious burns and injury.

Using an incorrect fuel filler cap or failing to tighten it may cause fuel leakage, resulting in serious burns or death in a crash.

Do not continue refueling after the fuel nozzle has automatically shut off: Continuing to refuel after the fuel nozzle has automatically shut off is a safety hazard, because overfilling the fuel tank may cause fuel leakage. Fuel tank overfilling and leakage can damage the vehicle, and if the fuel ignites, it may cause a fire or explosion, which may in turn result in serious injury or death.

CAUTION

Always use the genuine fuel cap, available from an Authorized Mazda Dealer. An incorrect cap may cause serious damage to the fuel supply system and the emission control system.
