The way you drive your Mazda vehicle determines how many kilometers you can travel on one tank of fuel. Follow these tips to save money on fuel and repairs.
- Avoid warming up the engine for an extended period. Start driving as soon as the engine runs smoothly.
- Avoid rapid starts.
- Follow the maintenance schedule (page 6-4) and have inspections and repairs performed by an authorized Mazda dealer.
- Use the air conditioner only when necessary.
- Slow down on winding roads.
- Keep the tires inflated to the recommended pressures.
- Keep the vehicle load to a minimum.
- Do not keep your foot on the brake pedal while driving.
- Make sure the wheel alignment is correct.
- Keep the windows closed when driving at high speeds.
- Slow down when driving into a headwind or crosswind.
WARNING
Never turn off the engine when going downhill:
Turning off the engine on a downhill slope is dangerous. It results in loss of power steering and power brake assist, and may cause damage to the transmission. Any loss of power steering and power brake assist may cause an accident.
