Accelerator pedal position
Your driving style affects the behavior of the automatic transmission:
- Gentle acceleration: early upshifts
- Strong acceleration: delayed upshifts
Kickdown
Use kickdown for maximum acceleration:
- Press the accelerator pedal past the resistance point.
The automatic transmission engages a lower gear, provided the maximum permitted engine speed is not exceeded.
- When you have reached the desired speed, ease off the accelerator pedal.
The automatic transmission upshifts again.
Towing a trailer
- When going uphill, keep the engine at a medium speed.
- Depending on the gradient, engage a lower gear, even if CRUISE CONTROL, DISTRONIC PLUS or SPEEDTRONIC is activated.
