Automatic mode
Automatic air conditioning is a system that ensures (except in extreme conditions of use) a comfortable ambient temperature in the passenger compartment and maintains good visibility while optimising fuel consumption. The system controls the fan speed, the air distribution, air recirculation, switching the air conditioning on or off, and the air temperature.
AUTO: optimises the attainment of the selected comfort level according to outside conditions. Press button 1.
Changing the fan speed
In automatic mode, the system manages the fan speed best suited to reach and maintain comfort.
You can still adjust the fan speed by turning control 6 to increase or decrease it.
Air temperature adjustment
Turn control 2 to the desired temperature.
The further the control is turned to the right, the higher the temperature.
Special feature: the extreme settings allow the system to produce maximum cooling or maximum heating ("18 C" and "26 C").
"Clear view" function
Press button 3; the integrated indicator light comes on.
This function provides rapid defrosting and demisting of the windscreen and rear window, the front side windows and the external mirrors (depending on vehicle). It automatically activates the air conditioning and rear window defroster.
Press button 8 to stop the rear window defroster; the integrated indicator light goes out.
To exit this function, press button 3 or 1.
Some buttons have an operating indicator light showing the status of the function.
Changing the air distribution in the passenger compartment

Press one of the buttons 4. The integrated indicator light of the selected button comes on.
You can combine two positions at once by pressing two of the buttons 4.
The airflow is mainly
distributed between all the vents, the front side window demisters and the windscreen demisting strips.
The airflow is mainly
directed to the dashboard vents.
The airflow is mainly
directed to the footwell vents.
Rear window defrost/demist

Press button 8; the integrated indicator light comes on. This function provides rapid demisting of the rear window and heated mirrors (on vehicles so equipped).
To exit this function, press button 8 again. Otherwise, demisting stops automatically.
Switching the air conditioning on or off
In automatic mode, the system controls switching the air conditioning on or off according to outside weather conditions.
Press button 5 to force the air conditioning off; the integrated indicator light comes on.

Vehicles equipped with ECO mode (switch 9): when it is activated, ECO mode may reduce the performance of the automatic air conditioning. Refer to the "Eco driving" section in chapter 2.
Air recirculation (passenger compartment isolation)
This function is managed automatically, but you can also activate it manually; in this case, activation is confirmed by the indicator light integrated in button 7 coming on.
The system determines whether to use recirculation according to the quality of the outside air.
Depending on the vehicle, air quality is indicated by one of the following indicator lights on the touch screen (from the cleanest to the most polluted air):

Note:
- during recirculation, air is taken from the passenger compartment and recirculated without any outside air intake;
- air recirculation isolates you from the outside environment (driving through polluted areas, etc.);
- air recirculation allows the desired temperature in the passenger compartment to be reached more efficiently.

Manual operation
Press button 7; the integrated indicator light comes on.
Prolonged use of this setting may cause odours due to lack of fresh air, as well as condensation forming on the windows.
It is therefore advisable to return to automatic mode by pressing button 7 again as soon as air recirculation is no longer needed.
To exit this function, press button 7 again.
Switching the system off
Turn control 6 to "OFF" to switch the system off. To restart it, turn control 6 again to adjust the fan speed, or press button 1.
Demisting/defrosting always takes priority over air recirculation.
