Practical advice

In the event of a puncture

~1min read

Depending on the vehicle version, the user may use either the spare wheel or the tyre inflation kit (see the description on the following pages).

Vehicle fitted with a tyre pressure loss warning system. If the pressure is too low (puncture, underinflation, etc.), the warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel. See "
Tyre pressure loss warning" in chapter 2.

If parking on the verge, warn other road users of the vehicle's presence using a warning triangle or other warning devices required by the local regulations of the country. If the spare wheel has been stored for many years, check at a service station that it is still in good condition and can be used safely. Vehicles fitted with a spare wheel that differs from the other wheels:
  • Never fit more than one spare wheel to the same vehicle.
  • The vehicle's wheels are larger than the spare wheel, so ground clearance will be reduced.
  • Replace the spare wheel with a wheel identical to the original wheel as soon as possible.
  • When using this spare wheel, do not exceed the speed shown on the label on the rim.
  • Using this wheel may change the vehicle's normal handling.

Avoid sudden acceleration or braking and reduce speed when cornering.

  • If snow chains must be fitted, fit the spare wheel on the rear axle and check the tyre pressures.
