REMOVAL

• Disconnect the battery, starting with the negative terminal.
• Remove the engine covers.
• Drain the refrigerant circuit using a recovery/recharge station.

F9Q or K4M or K9K

• Unclip the sound insulation from the bulkhead.
• Unscrew the pipe connections (1) from the connecting flange.
• Disconnect the pipes.
• Fit plugs to the openings.

K4J

• Remove the air box (2) (Chapter Fuel Mixture).
• Release the fuel cut-off solenoid valve (3).

• Unclip the sound insulation from the bulkhead.
• Unscrew the pipe connections (4) from the connecting flange.
• Disconnect the pipes.
• Fit plugs to the openings.

F4R

• Remove:

• the wiper arms,
• the left and right pillars.

• Remove:

• the bulkhead seal (5),
• the plastic rivets (6),
• the cowl grille (7).

• Remove:

• the mounting clips (8) of the water box cover,
• the water box cover (9),
• the heat shield mountings.

• Unscrew the pipe connections (10) from the connecting flange.
• Disconnect the pipes.
• Fit plugs to the openings.

• Remove the two connecting flange mounting bolts (11).
• Refit a pipe connection bolt in order to extract the connecting flange.
• Remove the O-rings from the evaporator pipes.

INSTALLATION

• Refit the O-rings onto the pipes (12).
• Refit in the reverse order of removal.
• Gradually tighten the two connecting flange mounting bolts so that the connecting flange is evenly pressed onto the pipes.
• Check that the seal seating surfaces on the connecting flange and the sealing gaskets are in good condition.
• Replace the seals.
• Lubricate with the recommended air conditioning oil to ease fitting.

Note: Any damaged seal requires replacement of the pipe.

• Tighten to the following torques:

• the connecting flange mounting bolt (0.8 daN.m),
• the pipe connection mounting bolts (0.8 daN.m),
• the battery cover bolts (0.4 daN.m).

WARNING

Connect the battery; carry out the necessary relearn procedures (Chapter Battery).

• Refill the refrigerant circuit using a recovery/recharge station.

Note:

• Check the air conditioning operates correctly with the fan unit at maximum speed.
• If there is no cooling, carry out a leak check (see Air Conditioning chapter).

Note: When replacing a connecting flange, add 10 ml of the recommended oil to the quantity recovered.
