Safety instructions
AIR CONDITIONING or AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING
IMPORTANTWhen handling refrigerant, you must wear:
- gloves,
- protective goggles (preferably with side shields).
- If refrigerant comes into contact with the eyes, rinse immediately and continuously with clean water for 15 minutes.
- It is recommended to keep an eyewash station available.
- If refrigerant comes into contact with the eyes, consult a doctor immediately, even if there is no pain. Inform the doctor that the burns are caused by R134A refrigerant.
If refrigerant comes into contact with other unprotected parts of the body (despite following the safety instructions), rinse immediately and continuously with clean water for 15 minutes.
IMPORTANT- All work involving refrigerant must be carried out in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not store refrigerant in a pit, a well, a sealed room, etc.
- Refrigerants are colourless and odourless.
Refrigerants are heavier than air and sink towards the ground. This creates a risk of asphyxiation. When working on the system, make sure there are no pits, wells, air shafts, etc. within 5 m, and switch on the gas extraction systems.
Above 100 °C, for example caused by a hot spot, refrigerant decomposes and produces a highly irritating gas.
IMPORTANTWelding or brazing is prohibited:
- on the components of the air conditioning system in place,
- on the vehicle where there is a risk of overheating air conditioning components.
Passing the vehicle through a paint oven after painting, or carrying out work near the system, is permitted if the temperature does not exceed 80 °C.
IMPORTANT- Repairing faulty air conditioning system components is strictly prohibited.
- Always replace any faulty component.
Always respect the routing of the pipes.
Make sure the refrigerant lines are securely fastened to prevent any contact with metal parts in the engine compartment.
IMPORTANTSmoking is strictly prohibited near a refrigerant circuit.
